‘It’s time to get serious’, I thought.
For about eight months now, I’ve been teaching myself how my camera works. Like most ‘men’ I don’t read the manual. Everything kinda just happens with a some trial and error. Seems to be working out OK so far. But I think it’s ’bout time for me to start pushing myself, my creativity, to try accomplish something brilliant.
During my recent trip to New York, I kept my eyes wide open and my thoughts focussed on possible Projects that could come my way. I obtained a mental list of ideas that each could make for an interesting photo series, but found it difficult to act on it. Time was against me. 10 days wasn’t enough to come up with something great.
However, now that I’m back and slowly settling in to my new home, my mind is working overtime in these strange new surroundings. The one thing that I need to help me with my Project is people. People with something interesting in their pockets. I want to get people in to my apartment to photograph them with whatever’s in their pockets. If you’re ever in Surry Hills and aint shy to have your face snapped, come on by!
